Top 5 Reasons LCEF Is Thankful for Church Workers

Church workers are a blessing to our congregations, communities and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.  

At Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF), we are deeply thankful for these faithful servants who reflect God’s love every single day. Their dedication, compassion and spiritual leadership shape lives and nurture the faith of generations.  

As Paul reminds us, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Today, we pause to celebrate and give thanks for church workers—the heart and hands of our faith family.  

Here are the top 5 reasons we’re thankful for church workers.

      Church workers pour their hearts into ministry, often going above and beyond to care for congregations and communities. Whether visiting the sick, leading worship, counseling or teaching, their service inspires those around them and keeps our church family strong. Their everyday acts of love, often unseen by many, are seen and cherished by God and by all of us.
   2. Their ability to bring hope and comfort
      In life’s joys and in its sorrows, church workers remind us of God’s love and faithfulness. Through sermons, prayers, a listening ear or simple presence during difficult times, they provide spiritual guidance and emotional support. They are often the voice of encouragement that helps others to see God’s light, even in the darkest moments.
   3. Their wisdom and guidance in times of uncertainty
      From personal struggles to times of change in our world, church workers offer steady leadership and spiritual clarity. They help us navigate life’s questions—big and small—grounded in God’s Word. When direction is needed, they remind us of God’s promises and help us find peace for today and hope for tomorrow.
   4. Their joyful celebration of God’s blessings
      Church workers lead us in giving thanks—rejoicing in the Lord through worship, sacraments and gatherings. Their joy and gratitude invite us all to see God’s work in every season. They help us pause to celebrate, encouraging a spirit of thanksgiving that lifts up and unites our community.
   5. We’re in this, together in faith.
      The story of the church is woven together by countless threads of faith, service and partnership. At LCEF, we believe church workers are our partners in God’s ongoing mission. We walk alongside them, supporting their ministry and cheering them on every step of the way. Together in faith, we face challenges, rejoice in victories and trust in God’s provision. That shared journey—rooted in faith and hope—reminds us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves. We’re deeply grateful for the privilege of traveling this road with church workers, united in Christ’s love for His people.
